Jesus' Example of Self-Discipline

On the night Jesus was betrayed, he knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. Luke 22:41-42 (NIV)

Jesus dreaded what was coming, but His mission was clear. He wasn’t trying to get out of what God was asking Him to do. Though He was going through overwhelming suffering, tremendous self-discipline kept Him committed to “not my will, but yours be done”.
